Duke's Restaurant in Lihue

Duke's Restaurant In Lihue

We had heard some pretty good recommendations from our island neighbors and decided to go checkout the restaurant ourselves to let our guests know what we thought.
Duke’s is located on the 2nd floor of the Hyatt Resort Hotel in Lihue, about a 15 minutes drive from the condo. Parking is fairly easy and is free as you can park in the main parking are for the hotel, enter the lobby and then walk through the hotel to the restaurant. If you don’t want to hustle with parking your own car, you can also use the valet parking.

We had made a reservation and therefore we got seated fairly quickly. The restaurant can be busy, so we do recommend that you make a reservation. We were seated on the front next to the ocean which is the best view spot in the restaurant. While you do have a great view of the beach area in front of the hotel and restaurant, it is not too impressive. You do not get a view of the sunset as the restaurant faces east. So, if you are looking for pretty sunsets, you will want to go to the south and west shores (Poipu).

One of us had Ahi Ahi and the other had the ribs. The food was pretty well prepared and served hot…..which is a good thing!! For dessert we had the Hula Pie which is their signature dessert. One serving is plenty for two people!!!

Overall, our experience was good and we would go back there again for a special occasion, but not for just casual dining – it is a bit pricey. Meal and tip for the four of us was just over $200.
